This is a fun opportunity to explore a new language. You will use the Mango Language database to study a new language and Beanstack to track your progress in the Challenge. If you are on Facebook or use other social media, we would love to have you tag #VirginiaPublicLibrary and #mangolanguages.
What do you get out of this? Why, some knowledge of a new language and culture, of course! We will also offer prizes to those who earn the most points, Mango buttons to all participants who finish the challenge, and the satisfaction of having done something fun in October!
To participate, visit the Mango Languages page through the Library’s Library Resources page and create a profile using your library card. Browse the 70+ available languages until you find one that looks interesting and then hop in!
Here’s how it works:
–Create an account in Mango using your library card (this is so that you can save your stellar language learning progress!)
–Spend a little time throughout the month of October getting to know your chosen language.
–Complete the required activities on Beanstack to earn your Mango button.
–Earn extra points by doing some of the optional activities. The more points you earn, the better your chances to win one of the final prizes!
–If you have any questions, ask library staff.
