Introducing VPL’s NEW Curbside Pickup Service:

Effective June 13, 2020 the Virginia Public Library started a new service to get materials to you in the safest way possible. To participate in curbside pickup, please follow the steps below:

  1. Call the library between the hours of 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (weekdays only) and ask a staff person about our curbside pickup service. The library’s phone number is 218-748-7525.

  2. Answer staff questions about the materials you would like to check out. Be ready with specific titles or authors you would like, as this information will greatly help our staff! You may also give more general requests, such as picture books about bugs, Western books, or Mystery Audiobooks. Pick up is limited to fifteen (15) items.

  3. You will be asked to set a specific time and day to visit the library and pick up your materials. In order to pick up your materials you must be able to visit the library at the agreed upon date and time, so make sure your schedule is free!

  4. Visit the library on your designated day and time, with your face mask ready to wear.

  5. In front of the library you will see a tent with a table under it. At your scheduled appointment time, approach wearing a mask, and ring the doorbell on top of the table.  A staff member will come to the library’s front door.  Please identify yourself by name and appointment time and step six feet back from the table.  Our staff member will place your items in a paper bag on the table.  After they have stepped back from the table, you may approach the table to take your items.

  6. Once you are done with your items, return them to the library’s outdoor drop boxes. These boxes are located by the library’s elevator entrance.  DO NOT leave your return items on the pickup table.

    • Place books in the Book Drop Box

    • Place DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks in the Media Drop Box.

PLEASE NOTE:

To participate in this service, you must pass the COVID-19 Screening Checklist.

If you have any questions, please contact the Virginia Public Library at 218-748-7525
