GENERAL INFORMATION:

Library patrons can pick up requested materials via the curbside pickup.  Staff are available to answer phone calls Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00pm or Saturday 10:30am-1:30pm.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the Virginia Public Library is closed to the public and updates will be posted to the Library’s website at www.virginiapubliclibrary.info or call 218-748-7525 for current information.

 

WHAT ABOUT ITEMS I ALREADY HAVE CHECKED OUT?

Please return all library items checked out to the library’s outdoor drop boxes located by the library’s elevator entrance.

 

HOW DO I GET NEW ITEMS?

To get new items from the Library:

  1. PLACE REQUESTS BY PHONE

                Call 218-748-7525 to place an order and schedule a curbside pickup.

  1. PLACE YOUR REQUESTS FOR LIBRARY MATERIALS ONLINE

                It may take longer than normal to receive items.  When you get notification your items are ready call the

                library at 218-748-7525 to schedule your curbside pickup.

  1. CHECKOUT ITEMS USING AN E-SERVICE

                Visit our website at www.virginiapubliclibrary.info to check out e-books, magazines, and other materials

                digitally with your library card.

 

Curbside Pickup Services:

 

Effective September 14, 2020 the Virginia Public Library will change the service to get materials to you in the safest way possible.  Please follow the steps below:

  1. Call the library Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 5:00pm or Saturday 10:30am-1:30pm at 218-748-7525.

  2. Staff will ask you questions about the materials you would like to check out. Specific titles or authors you would like will help our staff find your next reading, listening or viewing selection!

    You may also give more general requests, such as picture books about bugs, Western books, Mystery Audiobooks, DVDs, playaways or music CD. Pick up is limited to fifteen (15) items.

  3. You will be asked to set a time and day to visit the library and pick up your materials.

 

  Curbside hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00am-noon and 2:00pm-4:30pm

  • Tuesday and Thursday 10:00am-noon and 2:00pm-5:30pm

  • Saturday 10:30am-1:30pm

 

  1. Visit the library on your designated day and time, with your face mask ready to wear.

    • In front of the library you will a table

    • At your time block, approach wearing a mask, and ring the doorbell on top of the table.

    • A staff member will come to the library’s front door. Please identify yourself by name and step six feet back from the table to ensure your safety.

    • Our staff member will place your checked out items in a paper bag on the table. After they have stepped back from the table, you may approach the table to take your items

  2. If you have any books to return, place books in the Book Drop Box and DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks in the Media Drop Box. Please do not give them to staff or leave them on the table.

COVID-19 SCREENING CHECKLIST

 

In order to protect our employees and keep everyone safe, each individual will be asked the following questions:

  1. Within the last 14 days (two weeks), have you or anyone in your household experienced any of the following symptoms?

    • Fever

    • Sore Throat

    • Cough

    • Shortness of breath

    • Chills

    • Headache

    • Congestion

    • Loss of taste

    • Loss of smell

  1. Within the last 14 days (two weeks), have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with Covid-19?

If you answered Yes to either of the above we ask that you do not to use this service at this time. You will once again be able to use our curbside service when you are able to answer No to both of the questions listed above.
