If you know about the library, then you know about our wonderful events for both children and adults. But did you know that library events are not always at the library? We have a wonderful example coming to Virginia in April! The Virginia Public Library has partnered with Roosevelt Elementary to host a special Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and Arrowhead Library system sponsored event – and you are invited to attend!
One Dog Canoe and More is an event that will be hosted at Roosevelt Elementary on April 15th at 1:00pm. This event will include an author visit and presentation, details of which can be read below. Although this event is hosted at a school, the event is open for the public to attend!
A lively, interactive program with author Mary Casanova for grades K-5. With a Powerpoint program including images of northwoods animals and book covers and illustrations, Mary recounts her journey growing up in a family of ten, struggling with reading, and discovering that books are a window into the world and writing is a way to “have a voice.” Audiences of all ages engage with Mary’s warm presentation style, including Q&A, and respond with a greater desire to read–and write stories of their own.
These programs, sponsored by Arrowhead Library System, were funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
