Being part of the Summer Reading Program is easy: Come in to the library to sign up, or sign up online by clicking the red button. Then log the books or pages you’ve read online, and come in to the library to claim your prizes. In addition to sign up and final prizes, you can get entries for weekly drawings, win prizes for writing book reviews or volunteering, and even win special prizes at summer reading events!

We have lots of wonderful events going on this summer! To see all our wonderful events and challenges, pick up a children’s or teen brochure at the library. For now, here is a good way to know which days are best for visiting the library:

Thursdays    May 31st – August 2nd

Special guest performers visit the library! We have doggie visitors, sword fighting, magicians and more – see our brochure or library events page for more details!

Tuesdays    June 5, 12, 26, July 3, 17, 24

Craftastic Tuesdays! Come into the library to make free crafts! We will make art using chalk, cardboard, bubbles, and much more! Visit between 10 and 12 in the morning.

We have lots more happening at the library this summer including building challenges, juggling, comets and meteors, and a library Escape Room! We also have a book reading Dewey Challenge that runs all summer long! Stop by the Virginia Public Library if you are looking for a fun time this summer– we will be happy to see you!
