Being part of the Summer Reading Program is easy: Come in to the library to sign up, or sign up online by clicking the superheroes. Then log the minutes you’ve read online, and come in to the library to claim your prizes. In addition to sign up and final prizes, you can win prizes for writing book reviews or volunteering, and win special prizes at summer reading events!

We have lots of wonderful events going on this summer! To see all our wonderful events and challenges, pick up a children’s brochure or teen bookmark at the library. For now, here is a good way to know which days are best for visiting the library:

Thursdays    May 30th – August 1st

Special guest performers visit the library! We have bubbles, sword fighting, tie dye,  magicians and more – see our brochure or library events page for more details!

Tuesdays    June 4, June 18, June 25, July 9, July 23, July 30

Storytime and Crafts! At 10:30am we will meet in the Library Auditorium for fun stories, songs, and activities, which will be followed by a take home craft and free play time. Children from infants to Preschoolers will enjoy these events!

We have lots more happening at the library this summer including building block challenges, bike decorating, music and comedy shows and the crowd favorite, Box Day! We also have a book reading Dewey Challenge that runs all summer long. Stop by the Virginia Public Library if you are looking for a fun time this summer– we will be happy to see you!
