Welcome to our Virtual Storytime Challenge which runs from October 23rd – December 31st! This program is designed for children ages 0 – 6 and their adults. To participate in this challenge you will be doing the following three activities:

1. Use the Virginia Public Library’s Facebook page to watch virtual storytimes with your child.

To visit our Facebook page, click the penguin badge below. Our Virtual Storytimes will be posted every other Friday starting October 23 and ending December 18. We recommend liking our Facebook page so you will be alerted when a new video is posted.

2. Use the Early Literacy Calendar to pick activities to do with your child.

The library has early literacy activity calendars for the months of October, November, and December. To pick up a copy of this month’s calendar, call the library and schedule a pickup appointment. You can also scroll to the bottom of this post to download the early literacy calendars for the rest of the year. 3. Read books to your child.

If you would like to borrow library books to read to your child give the library a call! You can tell staff what topics your child enjoys (cars, birds, I Spy) and we will pick books for you to pick up at the library. You can also request materials from home using our online catalog and your library card. Click the following link to browse our library system’s items: Online Catalog

In addition to the three activities above, children and adults should keep track of their activities using these two options:

1. Participate by using the Beanstack online Virtual Storytime Challenge.

To register for the online Virtual Storytime Challenge, click on the monkey badge below. We recommend you make your account creator an adult so you can have one password for all your participating children. You can also register using the Beanstack Tracker app, available for free on your devices. If you have any questions on how to create an account, please call the library at 218-748-7525.

2. Participate by using the paper Virtual Storytime Challenge.

The library has created a tracking page for you and your child to keep track of the activities you are doing at home. This sheet also includes instructions on how to participate and when to contact the library for prizes. To pick up this tracking page please call the library at 218-748-7525. You can also download a copy of the tracking page below.

Once you and your child have finished 5 or more activities and marked them online, or with the tracking page, you can pick up a prize from the library! To schedule a day to pick up your prize call the library at 218-748-7525.
