Fall Youth Services Update
We have updated our Children’s and Teen webpages! The Children’s page now includes fun links for young children to explore, places where you can access Children’s ebooks for free, and homework help websites for the upcoming school year. The Teen page includes links for helping you find–or write!–your next book, free ebook sites, and homework and job help links. Take a look around – we hope you like what you see!
Library Card Sign-Up Month
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Throughout this month we will be encouraging first-time library users to come in and get their very own library card. To celebrate, we have brand-new library cards designed by Rose T., a young Cloquet library user (see the picture above). If your child has never had a library card, please come in and sign up this month – the library cards are free AND adorable!
Storytime is back at the Virginia Public Library! Our Fall session will run from September 22 to December 15. We meet every Friday at 11:00am in the Library Auditorium – although there are some exceptions! For instance, our first storytime will be held upstairs in the Children’s Room. We will also be giving out some special prizes at our first storytime – if you are interested, it would be a great time to attend! To keep track of storytime changes please click the picture above, or visit our Library Events page to see our full schedule. For more details about storytime please visit our Children’s Page!
3TC Club (which stands for 3rd Tuesday Club) is Virginia Public Library’s official After-school Club! Students are welcome to join us every 3rd Tuesday of the month (during the school year) to play games, make crafts, eat snacks and other fun stuff! Each month we will be doing something different in the Library Auditorium from 3 – 4pm. All are welcome, although we ask that children under the age of 10 be accompanied by an adult. Check our Library Events page for dates and themes and ask Stephanie in the Children’s Room with any questions!
The dogs are back in town! Our therapy certified reading dogs will be visiting us once a month through the school year, and are eager to hear you read! Children interested in reading to Muggsie and Katie can sign up for 20 minutes of one-on-one reading time with these book loving dogs. We encourage readers who are in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to participate by reading aloud from a library book, or a book from home. After reading to the dogs, children will receive a certificate showing they participated in the program, along with a free book for them to take home!
To see when Muggsie and Katie will be visiting the library please click this link to see dates and times. If you or any young readers you know are interested in reading to these wonderful dogs, please give Stephanie a call at 748-7525 to sign up for a time slot.
